Janay is a graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University where she earned a BSW degree. She earned the MSW degree from the joint master's social work program at The University of North Carolina- Greensboro and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. She is a psychotherapist and local entrepreneur as the founder/CEO of Premier Counseling, a youth and geriatric specific mental health group practice, which has teams of LISW-CPs and nurse practitioners across the state of South Carolina offering psychotherapy and psychotropic prescriptive treatment in the home, school, and community settings. She is an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. Janay has also served on various boards to include NASW-SC as secretary, and Columbia Urban League Young Professionals as Vice President.
