1. Attend professional development events:
- Course Planning Workshop – Attend one Course Planning Workshop in early April with your peer leader or graduate leader [required for all instructors, peer leaders, and graduate leaders with the exception of peer leaders studying abroad]
- The Building Connections Conference –Attend the Building Connections Conference, which typically takes place in mid-May in the Russell House University Union [required for all instructors]
- Participate in ongoing faculty development opportunities throughout the summer and fall [as available]
2. Prepare for and teach the UNIV 101 course, which includes meeting the following expectations:
- Submit your syllabus to the University 101 Programs office prior to the deadline and distribute your syllabus to your students on the first day of class.
- Send an introductory message to students in your section of UNIV 101, on or before the first day of class to introduce yourself, make students feel welcome and excited for class, and highlight the location of the classroom.
- Adhere to common course requirements.
- Attend all scheduled class meetings (including classes with a scheduled campus partner presentation). If you cannot attend a class, arrange for your peer leader or graduate leader to facilitate class.
- Meet with your peer or graduate leader weekly for 30-60 minutes, outside of the designated class time to plan for upcoming classes, debrief past classes, and discuss students you may have concerns about. Assist your peer leader or graduate leader by providing them with timely feedback and helping them to reflect on their experience.
- Conduct 1-1 meetings with your students outside of class time.
- Utilize the Blackboard gradebook and provide your students with feedback on their assignments in a timely manner.
- Respond to communications from the University 101 Programs Office in a timely manner and communicate issues and need for assistance with University 101 staff.
- Read the weekly instructor newsletter and ensure the messages in the "Information for Students" section are shared.
- Submit final grades within 72 hours of your final exam period.
3. Participate in the continuous assessment of University 101:
- Administer the End-of-Course Evaluation during class time.
- Complete the evaluation of your peer leader or graduate leader at the end of the semester.
