MUED 568: Organization and Administration of Music Programs
What to Expect
Description of Course:
Topics include materials and techniques of class teaching, equipment purchase, budgeting, recruiting, public relations, and the music library.
Description of Beyond the Classroom Component:
Students complete observations of master teachers/conductors of various ensembles. One of these observations must be at least 30 minutes of one of the two University Bands during the first two weeks of rehearsal. The second needs to be 30 minutes of two of the four conductors on campus for the USC Band Clinic. The final observations will be in a public school setting of their choice. Students are encouraged to observe multiple grade levels in a variety of cultural settings at different points in the semester to get a better perspective on student progress and learning.
